Assignment #22 fictional character Kyree Carpenter

Out of all the books and shows I have viewed, I had come to develop an interest in the life of Jay Gatsby, from the book The Great Gatsby. I realize that ultimately he is shot in the end of the story, but I think for him to rise from a penniless soldier drafted in WWI to a millionaire, is quite astonishing. The lifestyle in which he retains appeals to me with much intensity. His social status, plus his character and chase for his love is admirable. While he was unable to gain the woman he so truly desired, his intentions were pure. Now, while his methods of succeeding to the upper class may have been questionable, his qualities and characteristics ultimately portrayed him positively in my opinion.  While the cliché of "rags-to-riches" is a common theme throughout the film industry, his attribution to the story expands it on a larger scale, allowing it to express more ideas than simply your old-fashioned "rags to riches" storyline.
