Come to the Dark Side, Luke- Grae Chambers

Good vs. Evil. Its a theme that floods our literature, our movies, and our tv shows. As kids, we were shown disney movies. Besides being fun, colorful tales with great musical numbers, the purpose of the movies was to teach that good always wins over evil. To me it seems that Disney is trying to teach us that we have a choice, we can be truly evil people, or we can be good hearted. I believe that everyone is innately good or bad. Yes, the teachings of our parents can influence our choices. They can teach us right from wrong, but I truly believe we are born truly cruel or kind. This may sound uneducated, but first I'd like to distinguish what it means to be good and what it means to be bad. Let me make this clear: EVERYONE HAS GOOD COMPONENTS AND EVERYONE HAS BAD ONES, AND TO BE TRULY EVIL, LIKE HITLER LEVEL EVIL, YOU MUST LET THE BAD SIDE CONTROL YOU MORE OFTEN THAN THE GOOD. Regular people like you and me choose to let ourselves do good more often than not, this is not to say that everyone doesn't make mistakes. I had this conversation with my sister as we were discussing 9/11. We decided that a regular person, who has both good and bad thoughts, can't commit crimes such as mass murder. These people must have an imbalance of brain chemicals that completely erases their conscience. There are only a few people like this in the world, they are the outliers. I choose to believe that the world is a place full of people who were born good, but make mistakes from time to time.
