Assignment 7: On This Date

September 17, 1787
On this day, 42 of the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention held their final meeting, where they signed the Constitution of the United States of America. The Constitution was adopted by the Philadelphia Convention.  This represented the the greatest expression of compromise ever written and gives us our "owner's manual" for perhaps the greatest form of government our country has ever known. The Constitution, as many of you may know, encompasses the principles on which our country was founded. It outlines our rights, but more importantly, our government system. This was a very good thing for our country. It drafted an entirely new form of government. Our Constitution is the backbone of liberties. It's very important because it founded our "more perfect union." Without this, we wouldn't be defined by the things we are today. Liberty, Equality, & Justice. All things important in forming the nation we are.
I appreciate this event. This is because without this, we wouldn't be nearly as structured, and our government would not be as strong. The Constitution built a lasting structure of government that would stay true to our country's patriotism and unity.
