On This Date

September 11, 2001

The day that changed America. At this time America was seen as strong and united but once the attacks came, that all fell apart. It changed people's views on America. Since America was seen as the leader, head honcho, when this happened it scared everyone. No one thought someone would have the nerve to try and attack America.
After the attack, my mom told me that everyone was angry but at the same time United. It brought people together so they could become one and fight back. It was a sense of protection for your home, someone is trying to tear it down and you have to fight back to keep it standing. It also, due to the airplane high jacks, created harsher restrictions in airports to avoid any other attacks to happen again. The Patriot Act was created, which are rules and regulations that are enforced to help keep people safe from terrorist attacks. Now when you walk through an airport you have to take off your shoes and all things metal. If they have any speculation that you are hiding something, you get a pat down which are an invasion of rights but it's necessary due to this event to help prevent another attack. Sadly this will most likely be enforced for as long as we live because there are people who hate America and want to hurt it.
9/11 was an awful time I'm America and a test to see the strength of our unity. It has changed everyone's perspective on power and the significance that one country can have in the world.
