On this date- Emily Spivey

Semptember 15, 1776. British forces were stationed in New York during the American Revolution.
This event might not be a very well-known one to Americans today but it was an important event that changed America's future. This ended in British capture of New York from the Continental Amry.  This event then led to the continental army trapping British troops and getting them to surrender. Which helped to ensure America's freedom from Britain.
If this event had not occured, Britain could still have control of the United States today. This led to the colonies gaining enough power to form a brand new government and become superior to England. I am not necessarily thankful about this event but I am thankful about the events that came after it. Without it, I probably would not exist today. My ancestors would not have moved to America, my parents might not have been born which means they wouldn't have met and that means I wouldn't have been born. This is a little bit of an exaggeration but it could have changed the life of all future Americans.
