On This Date

October 1, 1908

On this date, the first car went on sale. This was Henry Ford's Model T car.
This influenced the world and how people are transported forever. 95% of all adults in the United States own a car, and 85% of the adults in the United States use that car to go to work. The invention of a car helped the world a lot; we are able to get around very quickly and travel long distances.

However, the invention of the car hurt us too. Our earth is being polluted more and more at an exponential rate, and it will only continue to increase until we invent a different car that runs on something such as water or air, who knows. I will honestly say though, that I really enjoy the invention of the car, especially since I've been lucky enough to own one, and this is how I get to school, which is 35 minutes away from my home, sometimes more. Also, it is real nice to just drive around and get out of the house when necessary, so this date means a lot to me, and it's changed my life! And I think most high school-ers would agree with me.
