Sept. 12

On Sept. 12, 1787, George Mason proposed the addition of a Bill of Rights to the American Constitution. This was crucial to the United States as a nation, as it secured the rights of the citizens and for state governments, so that citizens were not subject to a tyrannical government.

This addition to the Constitution enabled citizens to have rights under the government without fear from complete control of the government. This was very influential to the US as a nation because of it's enumeration of the state governments and citizens' rights. In terms of a global influence, the US became more and more powerful, and their power to the people became popular on a global scale.

I appreciate this event because it is very important for the wellness of the American people, and also paved the way to more civil rights. Without this, a tyrannical central government was avoided, and the people remained in power with ensured liberties under a democratic government that is the US.
