BOO- Anya Slepyan

Zombies have attacked! I immediately realize that I am woefully under-prepared. I have never seen The Walking Dead, and it has been several months since I read World War Z. I am tempted to stay where I am and do research (by binge-watching all available seasons of The Walking Dead and whatever other zombie book, movie, or TV show I can find). But I have to think practically, and Netflix probably shouldn't be my priority. I raid my pantry for food, and pack up camping/traveling necessities as quickly as I can while I try to figure out where to go. In World War Z, Israel was the safest country, but I'm definitely not planning on making Aliyah, zombie apocalypse or no. That leaves two other options: either grab some friends and try to wait out the apocalypse in a remote forest or canyon, or try to get to the campus of the University of Chicago. UC has repeatedly sent me mail advertising that their campus was zombie-proof, and that they had several plans in place in case of the zombie apocalypse. Once I got there I would be safe, but Chicago is pretty far away, not to mention that I would have to pass through one of the most populated cities in America, where the millions of people are bound to have transformed into millions of zombies by the time I get there.
Okay, that means that Operation Hermit may be my best and only option. As it turns out, living alone in the forest was one of my main career goals. In a way, the zombie apocalypse is encouraging me to live my dream. Just avoiding zombies/other people who have the potential to turn into or attract zombies shouldn't be too difficult, and may even be enjoyable.
