the character cannibal -Catherine Van Tatenhove

Once on a deep dark night a young girl edged through her house in the wee hours of the morning to get a glass of water. She quietly made her way down the dark hallway by tip toeing in her white nightgown. As she creeped around the corner in route to the stairs the hairs began to stand up on her neck coupled with the sensation that she was being followed. Then, as she saw the moonlight coming through her kitchen window at the bottom of the stairs she heard it. The laugh. The laughed that had an uncanny resemblance to a childhood tv character she couldn't yet decipher. It was quiet at first, more like a small giggle, and made the young girl cringe, tense, and stop dead in her tracks to urge her delicate ears to hear it, or maybe she was hoping she wouldn't hear it. But, it came again. This time louder, a cackling, it was swelling and becoming hysterical. During it's horrifying progression the young girl hid in a crack between the cabinet and the wall. But, that wouldn't be enough, it moved closer as if it was smelling her fresh young flesh. Then she knew. The character. The laugh. It all made sense.

She was no longer afraid when she called out to her brother, "Cooper I know that's you Elmo's laugh doesn't scare me anymore, so you can stop it right now!"

Unfortunately the voice that called back sounded nothing like her brother, and it squealed in it's blood curdling high screech, "Cooper isn't here. Elmo killed Cooper. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!"

The girl and her brother were never seen again.

Well, I'm lying about the last part, but the young girl did for a short span of time think that her brother had been overpowered by the deranged Elmo. However, once she began to sob uncontrollably Cooper revealed himself begging her not to tell the parents in typical older brother fashion. But, Elmo's laugh still scares the young girl even to this day.

Thanks a lot Coop.
