Assignment 14: Elana Ehl

I'm going to be completely honest. Holidays suck. A large majority of kids with divorced parents will be able to attest to this. Split time with family just makes the holiday season hard for everyone involved. Parents have to plan to the minute what goes on so they don't miss a single thing with their children, or if you have a parent like my dad they'll forget about you on Christmas Day or try and guilt you into asking for more time with them for the holiday. It sucks! And everything is made worse by family members that don't get long having to spend extra strained time together making everyone else uncomfortable. There is just no perfect part of my holiday season. People may argue that thats what make it so great because nothing is perfect and family is family so you got to love them. Who made up that rule anyway? If someone shares the same last name or even blood that you have to love them? It makes it almost completely obligatory to suffer through the holidays because hey that is what you do with family. But hello that just makes it all worse. You should be able to spend the holidays with people you choose not just people you are obligated to spend it with.
