Boo: Morgan Lakofka

It was a cold, dark night. The light of the moon barely shined through the thick clouds, it looked like it would storm soon.  She was out for a run, it was only 8:00 but the sun goes down early in the winter. The night was quiet and there were few cars out on the street. She approached a large hill, and slowed to a jog. She listened to the sound of her heavy breathing and her footsteps and made a rhythm in her head to run to. Something was slightly off beat. Every third beat, there was something new. She listened closely as she continued to run. Every third foot step there was a thump from behind. She tried to quiet her breathing and footsteps, the thumps quieted as well. She turned to look but nothing was there. She continued to run.  With her quickening pace, the thumps quickened as well. She stopped. So did they. She looked again. Nothing. She began to run, thinking it must be in her head. She passed a car parked under a street light and saw her reflection in the car door. She looked behind her in the reflection and saw the shadow of the noises. She woke up.
