Assignment 7: On This Date Tyler Rosenkrantz
On September 14, 2015 European Union officials met to decide how to respond to the immigration crisis in Syria. Over 120,000 Syrians are seeking refuge from their war torn country. However, the commission could not agree and made no decision and will meet again in October to discuss the issue. I am very torn over this issue, i feel bad because all of these people seek asylum and we turn a blind eye, but at the same time, 85% of the refugees are teenage Syrian males. The majority of ideal recruits for ISIS. Also, it is nearly impossible to perform extensive background checks on these people, and we could be letting in thousands of terrorists. I will not make a final decision on this blog because i do not want to offend anyone, but i want everyone to know that this is a very important and hard issue and should not be taken lightly.
